Professional Information

Contribution to the scientific advancement

  • Generated refined genome assembly of Fusarium udum, a casual agent of wilt disease in pigeonpea.
  • Identified differentially regulated genes in root and nodule tissues of chickpea and involved in identification of nodule specific cysteine rich (NCR) peptide coding genes in chickpea.
  • Identified stress responsive microRNA coding genes in pigeonpea.
  • Developed Recombinant Inbreed Lines (RIL) mapping population segregating for heat stress tolerance in chickpea and F3 mapping population segregating for Fusarium wilt and Sterility Mosaic Disease in pigeonpea.
  • Involved in introgressing “QTLs hotspot” region responsible for drought tolerance in chickpea in background of DCP 92-3 through marker assisted backcross breeding approach

Current area of research

Mapping genes/QTLs following BSA/QTL/Association mapping approach, genomics and transcriptomics
