Professional Information

Contribution to the scientific advancement

  • Developed Two high yielding long duration pigeonpea varieties namely IPA 206 and IPA 15-2 (Sharada) for cultivation in Uttar Pradesh state and North East Plain zone, India respectively.
  • Co-developed two high yielding early maturing pigeonpea hybrids namely IPH 15-03 and IPH 09-5 for cultivation in North Western Plain Zone, India.
  • Developed a total of Nine trait specific pigeonpea donors namely five donors [DPPA 85-1, DPPA 85-7 (NBPGR ID: IC0620568), DPPA 85-8 (NBPGR ID: IC0620566), DPPA 85-12 (NBPGR ID: IC0620567) and DPPA 85-13] for Fusarium wilt race-2 resistance; three donors (IPAB 7-2-1-7, KPBR 80-2-1 and IPAC 3) for Phytophthora blight resistance; IPAC 79 (INGR20023) for water-logging tolerant and IPAV 16-1 (INGR 20025) for extra large seed size (23.00 g/100 dry seed).
  • Contributed a total of 26 entries in IVT AICRP (14) and U.P. state adoptive trial (12) on pigeonpea..
  • Maintaining about 1300 working collection of pigeonpea genotypes and around 100 wild accessions

Genetic enhancement, trait identification, varietal development and CGMS hybrid technology in pigeonpea.
