Professional Information

Contribution to the scientific advancement

  • Team member in conduct of CFTs for transgenic chickpea and pigeonpea for IR.
  • Development of marker free transgenic vegetables: using the two vector system (Co transformation) to develop marker free transgenic in cucumber and tomato having the At cbf1 gene for cold tolerance.
  • Transformation of cucurbits using whole seed was developed (Patent filed).
  • Documented Indian weedy rice to be an admixture.
  • Validated three possible origins of weedy rice in India.
  • Studied impact of climate change on weedy and wild rice and other weeds.
  • Developed 42 Near isogenic lines (NILs) in wheat for different seed storage proteins(SSPs) using marker assisted backcrossing. These were analyzed for rheological properties and independent roles of alleles of SSPs on wheat processing quality.

Current area of research

  • Genetic transformation of Vignafor improved tolerance to stress(es); Genotyping of minor pulses for varietal identification.
