Agri-Business Incubator Centre (ABIC) based at ICAR-Indian Institute of Pulses Research, Kanpur is a technology-based incubation centre supported by ICAR scheme NAIF component -II (Innovation Fund). The centre was started functioning in the year 2020 and is dedicated to pulses. The incubator provides a range of support services like technology mentoring, networking, access to state of art laboratories, office space and developing forward and backward linkages for business promotion. The ABIC is also mandated to create awareness about the available avenues for business promotion related to pulse crops among the potential entrepreneurs, youth and farmers.
ABIC, ICAR-IIPR, Kanpur offers mechanism for start-up and entrepreneurs to have direct interaction and get technical guidance from ABIC mentors, who are the scientists specialised in various domains of pulses.
Two types of Incubation support are offered by ABIC, ICAR-IIPR, Kanpur:
1. On Campus (on site) incubation: The incubate is offered office space, access to laboratories for pilot production and experimentation, access to mentors and equipment.
2. Off campus (off site) incubation: The incubate receives incubation support at his/her
production site.

ABIC, ICAR-IIPR, Kanpur has well equipped state of art laboratories for extending incubation support to incubates. The ABIC has a dedicated building that has spacious rooms for use by incubates as office purpose. In addition, the ABIC also has a spacious sale counter “Dalhan Haat” at institute gate to support sale of products of incubate.
Well-equipped functional office space housed in a newly constructed dedicated ABIC building is available at premises of ICAR-IIPR, Kanpur. The building has 5 office chambers with a small conference room.
