Professional Information

Contribution to the scientific advancement

  • Associated in Mungbean Breeding Programme and contributed as a Team Member for the development of two high-yielding mungbean varieties viz., IPM 312-20 (Vasudha) and IPM 409-4 (Heera) for spring season cultivation in Uttar Pradesh.
  • Identified two resistant donors such as IC340947 and IC360831 against Bean Common Mosaic Virus (BCMV) disease in Common bean.
  • Identified promising cold tolerant genotypes based on morpho-physiological traits viz., EC150250, IC360831, and IC340947, EC500407, IC340910 and EC564797.
  • A total of 1800 Common bean germplasm accessions including Biofortified lines procured from National (NBPGR, Regional station, Shimla and Bhowali) and International (CGIAR- CAIT, Palmira – Colombia) organizations..
  • A total of 800 germplasm accessions common bean characterized for both qualitative and quantitative traits and identified traits specific germplasm accessions for breeding programme

Current area of research

  • Development of Improved Indian Common bean lines resistant to Anthracnose by employing molecular breeding.
  • Plant Genetic resource management and its utilization through pre breeding – Common Bean Component.
  • Genetic enhancement for yield, quality and stress tolerance in pulse crops – Mungbean Component .
